Utamaro was a famous Japanese print maker. The Utamaro flowering quince is named after him because the red of the flowers is reminiscent of the red in his prints.
When my bonsai blooms in the winter, in its winter storage, the color of the flowers is like cinnamon. In the spring and summer, when the bonsai is outside, the flowers are very deep red.
