New Meets Old (HDR)

The story of this photo:
This is one of the many places in Stuttgart where new and old architecture directly meet each other. This makes a nice qualitative contrast. The perspective distortion created by the 10mm focal length in a way create that duel-like scenery. But I guess, there is not a clear winner here, and I quite like this contrast when walking through the city.

How it was shot:
> Handheld<br />
> Three exposures (0, -2, +2 ev) autobracketed and merged to get and HDR
> Camera: Nikon D90
> Lens: Sigma 10-20mm F3,5 EX DC HSM
> Details can be found here

How it was tonemapped:
> Preparation: developed the raw files with ACR mainly in order to reduce the CA
> Photomatix version 3.1 (Detail Enhancer)

How it was post-processed:
> Post-processing was done in Photoshop
> Topaz Adjust on the entire image to get back the colors and the details
> Topaz Clean on the entire image – new layer blended with 50% opacity to get a cleaner look
> Repairing uneven exposure (result of the tonemapping and Topaz Adjust) in the sky using levels layer and inverted blue channel as a mask
> Saturation layer on the sky to enhance the blue tones
> Curves layer on the glass to tune the reflections
> Global curves and saturation layers to fine-tune the contrast brightness and saturation
> Slight vignette effect on a separate layer
> Sharpening using the high-pass filter
