In downtown Des Moines, there is a notorious bar called the Locust Tap. I’m not sure why it has such a bad rap. It may be because men about to go to prison have spent their last night of freedom drinking there, or it may be because of any number of other current legends. At any time of the day or night you can find almost anyone there, from the roughest kind of person to the most sophisticated.
Whatever the case, the Locust Tap does have an unusual feature. Its walls are covered with graffiti. The old tin ceiling looks like it has survived several fires. All this creates an amazing atmosphere.
