Desert Remedy

The native tribes of the southwest region of the United States found many uses for the unusual shaped Yucca plants that dotted the desert landscape. In their resourcefulness, they found that fibers of the Joshua tree worked well for sandals, belts, nets, brooms and ropes. The roots were used to make colorful dyes and in creating baskets. The sap could be made into soaps. And there were many medicinal purposes from the extract as well. They used it to treat ailments like joint pain, arthritis, inflammation, skin lesions, gout, hypertension; even asthma or headaches. Quite amazing what uses it held by applying a little trial and error over the centuries.
