Claiborne County, TN Courthouse - Tazewell, TN

Claiborne County in Tennessee was established on October 29, 1801, created from Grainger and Hawkins counties and extended the southern boundary to Anderson County. It was named for Virginia tidewater aristocrat William C. C. Claiborne, one of the first judges of the Tennessee Superior Court (1796-97) and one of the first representatives in U.S. Congress from Tennessee (1797-1801). Later he would become the Governor of Louisiana and was senator-elect from that state at the time of his death.

The original Claiborne County Courthouse was built in 1867 but destroyed by fire in 1931. The replacement, seen here, was designed by Architects Bauman & Bauman and construction was completed by V.L. Nicholson Company in 1932.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11
