The Shot
This is a picture of the London Surrey Olympic Test Road Race taken near Box Hill, Surrey UK. The race started at The Mall, London, came down to Box Hill Surrey and did 2 circuits of an 8 mile loop including the climb of Box Hill and then returned to London for the finish. The Olympic Cycling Road race next year will include 9 circuits of the Box Hill loop. There were extensive road closures to test next year’s arrangements. I live on the coast about 40 miles south of here.<
The deliberate focus of the picture is on the home favourite Mark Cavendish. He went on to win the race later back in London in a sprint up The Mall.
The camera used was a Sony A550 with a Tamron 28-200 Zoom at 60mm. The image was opened in Camera Raw and 2 additional images were created at =2EV and -2Ev for a “false HDR”. The 3 raw images were opened in Photoshop first and each image noise reduced with Noiseware Pro and saved as tiffs.
