At the end of the fifties, the Soviets started to equip their ships with Surface to Air missiles for aerial defence. The SA-N-3 Goblet (Soviet designation: M-11 Shtorm) was designed to replace the naval variant of the SA-2 that was a failure.
This new missile was quite advanced for it´s time and was used on the Kara Class Cruisers, Kresta II Cruisers, Moskva Helicopter Carriers and Kiev Class Carriers.
It was never used in combat, so I don´t know if it was effective or not.
